10th Annual Palatine Food Drive A Sucess

With Thanksgiving just days away, many local families will be a little more thankful this holiday season due in great part to the generosity of their many neighbors who provided bountiful donations to the 10th Annual Palatine Food Drive. Run by Lavelle Law Charities, the six week long drive once again provided truckloads of non-perishable food and other items to the Palatine Township Food Pantry.

Attorneys and staff members of Lavelle Law, Ltd. spread out throughout Palatine on a cold November 25th to begin collecting the donations from nearly twenty locations throughout town. The result was another big year in giving.

“We were very pleased with how the entire community seemed to come together to assist against his year,” said Food Drive Coordinator Heather Slipkevych. “There were several locations that required multiple pick-ups during the last few weeks as the donation boxes were overflowing. All of us are very grateful to everyone who contributed.”

Joining the volunteers to prepare the donations for the delivery to the Palatine Township Food Pantry were Palatine Mayor Jim Schwantz, State Representative Elaine Neckritz, and U.S. Congresswoman Jan Schakowsky. “I appreciate all of these elected officials taking time to come by and support our volunteers,” said Kerry Lavelle who founded the firm and the Food Drive. “It really lifted our spirits on a chilly, busy day.”
