Chicago Blackhawks receive resolution from MWRD Board of Commissioners

Brandon Faber, Senior Director of Communications and Community Relations for the Stanley Cup winning Chicago Blackhawks, visited the Metropolitan Water Reclamation District of Greater Chicago last week to receive a resolution from the Board of Commissioners in honor of the team’s achievements during the 2013 season.

This was the Blackhawks' twelfth appearance in the Stanley Cup Finals and their fifth championship win. With 76 seconds left in Game 6 of the finals, the Blackhawks scored twice in 17 seconds to defeat the Boston Bruins by a score of 3 to 1.

Commissioner Frank Avila presented the resolution to Faber during the July 11 Board meeting.

“The Blackhawks joined the National Hockey League in 1926 and have a rich history,” said Commissioner Avila. “We are very proud of the way the team represented the City of Chicago on the national stage, and we congratulate them for their riveting season and for winning the National Hockey League’s 2013 Stanley Cup Championship.”

“On behalf of Rocky Wirtz, John McDonough and the entire Blackhawks organization it was an honor to accept this resolution today from the Metropolitan Water Reclamation District of Greater Chicago,” said Faber. “We appreciate the recognition for our 2013 Stanley Cup championship season and we are fortunate for the great work by the MWRD to protect and treat our water supply in the best city in the world.”
