Home sales are up 31 percent in the nine-county area, according to senior broker at @properties, Holly Connors.
Sales of Chicago-area homes surged more than 31 percent last month, posting the strongest April since the boom. The Illinois Association of Realtors said that 9,152 single-family homes and condominiums sold in the nine-county area last month, up 31.2 percent from 6,977 sales in April 2012. April marked 22 straight months of year-over-year sales gains as the local housing market continues its recovery. As part of a rollout of wifi hot spots, Comcast is offering anyone, even non-customers, free wifi in a variety of eateries and other settings, through July 4. After that, customers can still use wifi in the many new locations.
There you are, sitting in a restaurant or doctor's waiting room, trying to get on to the Internet with your smartphone, tablet or laptop. But frustratingly, there's no wifi service. You either can't get online or must use up your expensive data plan service. To remedy this, Comcast is expanding the number of locations in which it offers Wifi service, and is offering a freebie from May 24 through July 4. Anyone, even non-customers, can access wifi for free on those dates. The Italian restaurant on Dundee Road near Route 53 is serving a northern and southern Italian mix, and is owned by Frank Sbragia, who has been in the restaurant business for more than 50 years.
Italian restaurant Rossini di Lucca is now open for business in Palatine, just in time for the upcoming holiday weekend. The restaurant is located in the former Woodcraft property at 1280-1286 E. The Palatine Village Council unanimously approved the new ‘Gastro Pub’ which plans to take over the former Mia Cucina Restaurant property at 56 W. Wilson Street in October.
There’s a new ‘Gastro Pub’ coming to town. Tap House Grill was unanimously approved by the Palatine Village Council at its meeting Monday. A special use variation was approved by the council to allow for occasional live entertainment at the restaurant. Approved also was a lease agreement with Village Manager Reid Ottesen - and a redevelopment agreement with Mayor Jim Schwantz, with Tap House Grill owners Scott Ward and Mark Zych, of Restaurants America. The owner of the Arlington Heights theatre has spent millions on a complete transformation of the site, and plans to open more suburban locations, according to the Daily Herald, and is now looking to hire between 70 and 100 employees.
When Star Cinema Grill, 53 S. Evergreen, opens it doors by mid-June, patrons who frequented the former Arlington Theatre will likely be in for a surprise. Star Cinema Grill Vice President of Operations Gustavo Vazquez said the company has spent millions on a complete transformation of the theatre, including a new ticket window, white tiled floors, leather movie seats and a bar in the lobby, among other changes, the Daily Herald reported. Because of the extensive renovations, according to the Daily Herald, the previous 1,500 seat auditorium has been reduced to 700. Full price tickets will cost $10.50, with lower prices for matinees.
