Palatine Residents Expected to Sound Off on Housing Development

A public hearing at Palatine Village Hall will be held Tuesday night on the planned development for Catherine Alice Gardens. A 33-unit apartment building for families with mental illness, disabilities or those who are low income would live there.

Plenty of supporters and opponents to a proposed permanent supportive housing development in downtown Palatine are expected to sound off on the facility at the village's plan commission meeting on Tuesday, according to the Daily Herald.

Catherine Alice Gardens would be located in a vacant warehouse at 345 N. Eric Drive and would consist of a 33-unit apartment building for families with mental illness and disabilities and low-income individuals, according to the article.

While the more than 250 letters submitted to the village regarding the development have been positive, nearby business owners have voiced opposition to Catherine Alice Gardens, according to the Daily Herald.

A public hearing on the preliminary planned development will be held during Tuesday's plan commission meeting at 8 p.m. at the community center, 200 E. Wood St. in Palatine, according to the village of Palatine plan commission agenda.
