2013 Architecture Conference & Product Show Features Education, Networking Opportunities; Kai-Uwe Bergmann Keynote

Palatine, IL, Sept. 23, 2013
–Architects and design professionals can learn about acoustics and sound
control, 3D data, working with building officials, moisture control and water
barrier management, energy codes, “green” upgrades and more at the 2013 Architecture
Conference & Product Show Oct. 22 at the Drury Lane Conference Center,
Oakbrook Terrace, IL. The conference, hosted by the Association of Licensed
Architects (ALA), also features more than 80 product exhibits. Design
professionals can choose from 13 seminars, all qualifying for 1.5 learning
units of continuing education requirements.



Registration for the conference
and continental breakfast starts at 7:30, with the conference beginning at 8
am. The luncheon, which is included with full-day registration, will be held
from 12-1 pm followed by a keynote address from 1-2:30 pm by Kai-Uwe Bergmann, partner at the trailblazing Danish architecture firm
BIG-Bjarke Ingels Group. Bergmann will speak about the firm’s “Yes Is More” design
philosophy, which bridges the extremes of the avante garde and pragmatic
predictability to create socially, economically and environmentally perfect
places as a practical objective. This keynote address will demonstrate how BIG
has applied this positive approach to building design to its practice and work
with clients.



Conference sessions run from 8 am
to 5 pm. Register by October 15 for early-bird pricing on full-day packages,
which include the keynote address, seminars, product show,
continental breakfast and buffet lunch, and are $135 for members and $160 for
non-members. After Oct. 15, package prices increase to $150 for members and
$180 for nonmembers.

In addition, this year ALA is offering a special event
package for students and unlicensed interns so they may attend a shortened day
of programs specific to their interests. The program includes an address by
Harry M. Falconer Jr., AIA, Director of the Intern Development Program (IDP) on
NCARB and You: IDP, ARE & Certification. The package is available
for $35 with pre-registration before Oct. 15 and $45 after Oct. 15 and includes
entrance to the product show, presentation, buffet lunch and keynote
address.
