ReplyHow many years ago was that? I would say these days it's a pretty safe place, except unless you take a bullet from some neighbor shooting at coyotes in his backyard..

My facts? I didn't state any coyote facts, I presented a question. You check your facts Anna! Nonetheless, did you notice the charges of unlawful discharge of a firearm? Still an idiot.

We don't know how the dog got loose, so it's hard to judge exactly what happened. I've had my dog bolt out a door unexpectedly before and we are responsible dog owners. But this guy had deer meat in his back yard. No wonder the dog headed there. The dog and the owner didn't deserve this, no matter how the dog got loose.

ReplyExactly Steve! And worse yet, had the owner been closer to her dog, she could have been shot too. Tell me, how many coyotes are roaming in the center of Palatine? Idiot for sure!

ReplyWe used Muddy Paws before it was a rescue and simply a boarding kennel. It was immaculate and Diane sincerely loved animals. It was apparent. My dog always came home happy with no issues. I can't imagine what would cause a person to flip so drastically and it barely seems like the person I once knew. I'm baffled.

You make good points and I'm sad for anyone who loses a pet to a coyote. I don't know this man, but I do feel his actions were dangerous. I don't know why a dog was not leashed or why a female was walking around town in the middle of the night looking for the dog. But I do know more could have gone wrong in the scenario. If the problem is this bad, will the village officials help to solve it? I honestly have not seen coyotes in my neighborhood (yet?) and I live just south of Dundee. But on Sunday morning, I was looking out my front window and saw a red fox trotting down the middle of my street. That was a new one for me.
