Replyyou're kidding me, right? If things were good, this would be fine...but things AREN'T good, are they? We've got stupid brick pillars all over the place- not only can you NOT read them when you are driving, they block the view of oncoming traffic, and come on do we really need directions around Grayslake? do we really have that many people lost and clueless, with no app? Is tourism up that much around here? Now money for...balloonists. And money for a grocery store's 'facade'. And yet, the old Fair Grounds sits there...you know, the Fair Grounds that we the people paid a ridiculously high price for, and are still paying for>? Yep, that one. this is just embarrassing.

ReplyI wonder if she knows how lucky she is that was about as close as one could get without getting killed. That crossing has gates, and lights, I wonder if the gates were not down for some reason? Hopefully not a texting situation. That crossing is not nearly as crazy as the one at 83 and Rollins, that whole intersection is just a tragedy waiting to happen.

ReplyThis may be a challenge for people who get visibly angry when asked for paper bags...they never ask ahead of time, and by the time I get close enough they have already started putting the milk in a plastic bag with the bread. Seriously one guy got really annoyed. But personally if they would just get rid of the stalkerish bankers it would be a step in the right direction. And perhaps a decent onion now an then.

ReplyThey are trying to be like Sunset- althought they are going about it all wrong. In Grayslake they now have someone standing around by the checkouts, but she doesn't know how to do it right. at Sunset, they watch and ask if you are ready, and take the cart to a checkout and start unloading it. At Jewel it's just awkward and feels wrong. It doesn't help to have the bankers following us around and pouncing at every opportunity. One demanded of me "mam, who do you bank with?" I asked her why she thought that was any of her business, she seemed to think because she worked there it was. At sunset, they actually want to be helpful, they aren't a Union shop like jewel, and that makes all the difference. Too bad I'm stuck with jewel for distance sometimes.

Replyhe couldn't call the Wisconsin police? losing sight of him at the wisconsin state line sounds more like he couldn't cross the state line. I would think the bulletin would have gone out to wisconsin as well. anyway glad they caught the creep.

Replyperhaps they should learn how to manage the money a little better. for a state with one of the highest tax rates on everything, they sure never have any money, allegedly. I am so sick of this more more more stuff from the State of Illinois. I cannot WAIT to get out of here. Bush's idea of 'a fabulous job bringing various leaders together' seems to be just another way of saying she will get what she wants out of our pockets. the ideas are important? Oh really. How profound. So as it turns out being pushed into electric cars and bicycles will actually cost us dearly. Nice.
