Cook County Sheriff Conducts Random Roadside Checks Tonight

Expect to be stopped tonight near Dundee and Route 53 in an effort to stop drunk driving.

Cook County Sheriff Tom Dart announced today there will be random roadside safety checks conducted tonight near Dundee Road and Route 53, according to a press release.  The effort is meant to curb drunk driving in Palatine Township, according to the release, and drivers will be screened to ensure they have a proper driver's license and registration, in addition to equipment checks and for other violations.  The release states, "any suspicious passengers will be subject to scrutiny by police."  The checks will be conducted in partnership with the Illinois State police.  Information provided by the Cook County Sheriff's Office.

Palatine Police Plan Increased Enforcement, Roadside Checks for Holidays

The “Click it or Ticket” and “Drive Sober or Get Pulled Over” campaigns will again be in effect for the holidays, in addition to roadside safety checks now through January 1.

Palatine Police will again be working to keep the roads safe as holiday celebrations commence from Christmas to New Year's Eve during the holiday enforcement campaign.  Through grant assistance from the Illinois Departmentof Transportation, Palatine police will be conducting saturation patrols as they have during past major holiday periods. Both the “Click it or Ticket” and “Drive Sober or Get Pulled Over” campaigns will be in full-effect, and now through January 1, 2013, police officers will be on the lookout for impaired drivers, safety belt and speeding violations.  Studies show that the above factors cause the majority of serious injuries and fatal car crashes, according to a Palatine Police press release.  "The Palatine Police …

Wish they would extend patrols past the holiday - if they sat in front of the Winston Park campus on Palatine Rd starting at 730AM they would tally up enough speeders in the school zone to pay for the new police station.   more ›
