Palatine Man Killed in Head-On Collision, Woman Charged In Crash

46-year-old Anthony B. Calhoun of Palatine in a head-on collision in Will County on Friday, Aug. 31. The other driver involved was charged with reckless homicide, her first court hearing in Sept. 4.

A drunken driver in a pick-up truck crossed the centerline, into oncoming traffic and hit a sedan head-on killing a man from Palatine, according to police. The driver of the sedan, 46-year-old Anthony B. Calhoun, was pronounced dead at the scene. The crash happened on Route 6 about a quarter mile east of the Interstate 55 interchange in Will County around 4 p.m. on Friday, Aug. 31.   The driver of the pick-up truck 30-year-old Tiffany Unland of Coal City sustained non-life threatening injuries. Unland now is in the Will County Jail being held on a $20,000 bond. According to police, Unland was charged with reckless homicide and more charges are pending. It is so completely unfair that in the majority of these drunk driving accidents, the innocent bystander gets killed while the worthless drunk escapes without even a scratch. It's so maddeningly and completely unfair and it happens 99% of the time in these cases!   more ›

  A Naperville man has been charged with reckless homicide in the deaths of two Elmhurst residents for  allegedly driving his Porsche at a high rate of speed into oncoming traffic on I-88, Aug. 6. Witnesses reported seeing William Howe, a dentist, drive erratically and throwing wads of cash out the window. Lake County Crime Stoppers is offering a $5000 reward for information leading to the arrest of the driver that struck and killed 18-year-old Gabriella Drozdz, July 22, in Lake Zurich.
