UPDATED: Hit-and-Run Driver Flees Scene, Then Crashes Into Police Car

Arlington Heights police responded to a hit-and-run accident Sunday in the 100 block of E. Algonquin Road. The driver who initially hit a car returned to the scene and crashed into a police car, the Arlington Cardinal reports.

UPDATED: December 31 8:25am Arlington Heights police say a 69-year-old man hit three cars in total with his vehicle Sunday afternoon in the Mitsuwa Marketplace.  Arlington Heights Police Seargent Shawn Gyorke said the Arlington Heights resident hit the first vehicle around 1:30 p.m. Sunday as he entered the parking lot in the 100 block of E. Algonquin Road. The car was being operated by a driver at the time.  The second vehicle was hit, Gyorke said, as it was parked in the lot, and the third car struck by the driver was an Arlington Heights police car that was responding to reports of the incident.  Paramedics arrived on the scene and transported the driver of the offending vehicle to Northwest Community Hospital. Lake Zurich Teen Killed After Hit and Run Friday Night

Three teens walking on Church Street were hit by a light-colored SUV that left the scene before 9:30 p.m.; police are asking for the public’s help to identify the driver.

One Lake Zurich teen is dead after a hit-and-run accident, Friday night, on Church Street near Jamie Lane, according to Lake Zurich Police Cmdr. Kevin Finlon. Police are asking the public's help in finding the driver of a white or light-colored sports utility vehicle believed to have hit 18-year-old Gabriella Drozdz of Lake Zurich along with two other teens just before 9:15 p.m., Friday night. Drozdz died from her injuries shortly after being transported to Condell Medical Center in Libertyville by the Lake Zurich Fire Department. Two others walking with Drozdz, both females, ages 16 and 18, were taken to Good Shepherd Hospital in Barrington. Their identities have not been released. So saddened by this tragedy! It is evident that Gabby has touched many lives. I pray that the driver finds it in their hearts to come forward and give Gabby's family a bit of peace. I drive past the accident area often and see people on the side of the road mourning. Both drivers and those mourning, PLEASE be careful that no one else is hurt while mourning the loss of Gabby on the roadside.   more ›
