District 15 Calendar: No Drastic Changes
A proposal to start the school year a week earlier was not adopted by the District 15 board, next school year will start on August 26, 2013.
A proposal to begin the District 15 school year a week earlier for the 2013-2014 school year will not see the light of day, and the main reason is response from the community. In October, the school district presented a schedule that would have differed from previous years, which had a scheduled start date of Monday, August 19, 2013. But a survey provided by District 15 to gauge a response to that demonstrated it was not well-receieved. "Out of 400 repondents, roughly 300 didn't like the earlier start, and because of that resopnse, we went back to what was initially proposed for the calendar in January," said Scott Thompson, superintendent of schools for District 15.
