Buehler YMCA Has New Executive Director

Heidi Deininger has been named the new executive director of Buehler YMCA.

Heidi Deininger has been named executive director of Buehler YMCA in Palatine. "We are pleased to bring Ms. Deininger's more than 20 years of experience as a dedicated YMCA employee to Chicago and the Buehler YMCA," said Kathy Bosco, group vice president for the YMCA of Metropolitan Chicago in a press release. "Deininger will be a valuable teammate to the Buehler YMCA because she shares the YMCA of Metropolitan Chicago's philosophy of supporting youth development, healthy living and social responsibility," Bosco state in the press release. Deininger previously was executive director of the West Lussier Family YMCA in Madison, Wisc. You're time-pressed enough, so we're happy to do the research for you. The calendar has turned to 2011, a time both literally and figuratively for new beginnings in many aspects of our lives. It's cold outside, and cabin fever can set in.  What is the solution? Keep active, both physically and mentally. If, like many people, you are starting the New Year with a resolve to get in shape, get more physically active, or just learn a new hobby or sport, you might find what you need through the many offerings of the Palatine Park District, the Salt Creek Rural Park District, or the Buehler YMCA. Confessions of a Male Group Groover

I am used to being “the guy.” I take a dance aerobics class at the Buehler YMCA called Group Groove, and usually the class consists of eight to 15 women and me. The guy. I typically hit the Y on weekday mornings and have heard that other men sometimes attend the evening and Saturday classes. I rarely see them. In fact, since I started taking the class in 2007 I don’t recall more than four times another man has been there. Basically, I am the Group Groove guy. So what is it like to be the sole man on the dance floor with a group of women? It’s a blast.
