A ceremony was held in Community Park Sunday afternoon to honor all Veterans of war, and in peacetime.
The Palatine American Legion Post 690 honored the military on Veterans Day, Sunday, November 11 at Community Park. The ceremony began at noon and featured members of the Legion’s Color Guard and Rifle Team, the Legion Auxiliary and the Sons of the American Legion. Palatine Boy Scout Troop #209 also participated in the ceremony, which concluded with a rifle salute.
Those who have died for, and served our country will be honored later today at St. Theresa Church and on Sunday near the Veterans Memorial at Community Park.

Veterans will be honored for their sacrifices in two separate events over the next few days. Later today, St. Theresa's Church, 455 N. Benton Street, will host a Veteran's Day Ceremony starting at 12:45 p.m. Veterans of the military will be speaking, and children representing each of the branches of the Armed Forces will be singing to honor those who fought, and died for our country.
