Palatine Police issued 120 tickets and made 7 DUI arrests as part of the Illinois Department of Transportation's (IDOT) Super Bowl Holiday Safety Campaign. Palatine used a a grant from IDOT to increase patrols during Super Bowl weekend and the preceding week. A press release from the police department states that the focus of the increased patrols was to get intoxicated motorists off the road, reduce speeding and ensure seat belt and child restraint use. Palatine used saturation patrols focused on late night hours. Also, a roadside safety check was set up near Algonquin and Roselle Roads, the press release stated. The results of the enforcement were:
