Afternoon Snow Could Make for Messy Commute

A winter storm advisory is in effect for Cook County through 9 p.m tonight.

A winter storm advisory remains in effect through 9 p.m. tonight for Cook County and three to five inches of snow accumulation is expected.   As of 2:55 p.m. Tuesday, 3.2 inches of snow had fallen in Schaumburg and as of 12:37 p.m., 1.9 inches of snow had fallen in Palatine, according to the National Weather Service.  Motorists were reporting white-out and blizzard conditions, accidents and cars in the ditch and snow-covered and slippery …

Roads Snow, Ice-Covered for Monday Morning Commute

In Arlington Heights and Palatine, 3.4 inches of snow fell overnight, according to the WGN Weather Center blog.

Snow blanketed the area overnight making for a tough commute for many Monday morning.  A winter weather advisory is in effect for Cook County — and much of the area — through noon today with more snow expected through the morning. In the area,  3.4 inches of snow fell in Arlington Heights, according to the WGN Weather Center Blog.  The Chicago Tribune reports several accidents before 7 a.m. this morning along the Dan Ryan, Kennedy and Eisenhower expressways and I-294.  Many roads throughout the area were marked as snow- or ice-covered Monday morning, according to the Illinois Department of Transportation's road conditions map (see map above).  The overnight snowfall marked the most significant accumulation so far this winter season since …
