Hoffman Estates Boy's Death Likely An Accident

The Chicago Tribune reported that police believe the Saturday death of Allan Fernandez was an accident.

Police believe the Saturday death of an 11-year-old boy in Hoffman Estates was an accident, the Chicago Tribune reported. Hoffman Estates police were called to a home in the 1200 block of Mallard Lane at 1:44 p.m. Saturday. Police said that the boy was unconscious and not breathing when they arrived. He was taken to Saint Alexius Medical Center and pronounced dead at 3 p.m. The boy had a puncture wound to his chest, but an autopsy did not find what had caused the wound and a gunshot had been ruled out, the newspaper reported. The Daily Herald reported that neighbors said they heard that the boy was playing on Cook County Forest Preserve property and fell out of a tree. Palatine Police Plan St. Patrick's Crackdown

The Palatine Police Department will participate in the Illinois Department of Transportation's St. Patrick's Day Holiday Traffic Safety Campaign.

The Palatine Police Department will use saturation patrols from March 12 through March 20 in an effort to crackdown on drunk drivers. The department is participating in the Illinois Department of Transportation St. Patrick's Day Holiday Traffic Safety Crackdown. The increased patrols will be partially paid for with grants from the state.
