Obituary: Frederick W. Rodey, 38 Year Palatine Resident

The life of Frederick W. Rodey, who was a WWII Navy Veteran and manager of engineering at NBC in Chicago, will be honored and remembered on Tuesday, May 21.

Fred was born on October 26, 1927 the son of the late Frederick and Louise (nee: Glaser) Rodey and passed away on Friday, May 17th at the Midwest Hospice Care Center at Northwest Community Hospital in Arlington Heights. A WWII U.S. Navy Veteran. Fred had worked as manager of engineering with NBC in Chicago retiring after 40 years of service.  Fred was also the owner of Phoenix Satellite Systems in Palatine. Obituary: Helen Victorine Johnson of Palatine, Formerly of Niles

Johnson was an active member at Resurrection Lutheran of Niles and All Saints Lutheran in Palatine, in addition to the 39ers group. Her life will be honored and remembered Wednesday and Thursday.

Helen Victorine Johnson was born on December 31, 1925 in Chicago, IL., the daughter of the late Victor and Gudrun (nee: Hansen) Bergman and passed away on Mothers Day, Sunday, May 12th. Helen was always an active and dedicated member in her local churches including, Nebo Lutheran of Chicago, Resurrection Lutheran of Niles and All Saints Lutheran of Palatine.  She also enjoyed spending time with her friends in the 39ers group with whom she was confirmed in 1939.   Beloved wife of the late Robert C. Visitation and a funeral will be held on Sunday for the former member and past president of the Palatine American Legion Post #690 and lifelong member of Immanuel Lutheran Church.

Leona was born on July 12, 1931 in Palatine, IL the daughter of the late William A. and Emma (nee Frost) Weide and passed away peacefully on Wednesday, May 1st at the Brentwood North Healthcare Center in River Woods. A U.S. Navy and Korean War veteran, Captain Robert J. Shipner worked for Eastern Airlines for 33 years and was a professional vocalist and musician. Services will be held on Saturday.

Captain Robert J. Shipner, 83, of Palatine, IL. was born on March 23, 1930 and passed away on April 28, 2013. Beloved husband of Irmgard, nee Nicolai; loving father of Sheila Cox, Sandra Grimm, Robert Shipner and Daniel Shipner; proud grandfather of Matthew, Melissa, Katie and Nicholas; dear brother of Patricia Trgovich and the late Richard Shipner. Robert attended St. Francis de Paula Elementary School, Hirsch High School, St. Ambrose College and the University of Illinois. He served in the US Navy during the Korean War.
