Stop by Winter Market This Saturday at Train Station

Seventeen vendors selling a wide variety of food and other items will be at the Palatine Metra station Saturday, December 15 from 8 a.m. until noon.

Palatine Winter Market Pleases All Tastes

Held at the train station this Saturday, December 15 and monthly through April 2013, 17 vendors will be selling a wide variety of specialty food items, gift baskets and more.

The Palatine Metra Station, 137 W. Wood Street, will host the Winter Farmers' Market this Saturday, December 15 from 8 a.m. until noon.  Marg Duer, is the organizer of the Palatine Farmers' Market in the summer and winter, and said products that will be sold include winter produce, lettuce and herbs, organic meats, bison, turkey, spices, pasta, breads, sauces, pies, soaps, gift baskets and more. The Winter Market vendors will be positioned both inside and outside of the train station, and will include: Additional dates for the market will be January 19, 2013, February 9, 2013, March 9, 2013 and April 13, 2013.

Magical North Pole Train Rolls Through Palatine

A special group of about 60 families will embark on at trip to see Santa on a Metra train for Operation North Pole.

Operation North Pole is sharing the magic of Christmas with 60 families who have children suffering from life-threatening or terminal illnesses. Later today, these special kids will take a ride on the Polar Express, which will roll through Palatine at 12:37 p.m.  At the Palatine Metra Station, 137 W. Wood Street, members of the Palatine Fire Department will be on the platform wearing Santa hats and holding signs, to show support for the children as the train slowly travels by.  Now in its fourth year, Operation North Pole is wrapping the exteriors of two Metra train cars, as well as a partial interior, with bright holiday colors and images of Santa’s workshop. The purpose is to provide families who have children battling a life threatening…
