Palatine Condo Fire: Four Residents Displaced, No Injuries

The blaze was reported at 8:21 p.m. Friday with heavy fire on the first floor extending to the second floor; three units were ultimately deemed uninhabitable after multiple fire agencies helped to extinguish it.

Palatine firefighters responded to a blaze at the Lake Louise Condominiums, 516 N. Wilke Rd. Friday night, and four of its residents were unable to go back to their units after it was extinguished.  No injuries to civilians or firefighters were sustained. The call came in at 8:21 p.m., and by 8:27 p.m., Palatine firefighters were on the scene where heavy fire had been reported on the first floor, and had extended to the second floor and into the attic above, according to a Palatine Fire Department press release. UPDATED: Fire Breaks Out at Palatine Apartment Building Friday

More than a dozen emergency vehicles are on the scene at 516 N. Wilke; both floors reportedly were ablaze, and a hook and ladder was used to reach the second floor of the apartment building.

UPDATED: Friday, May 17, 10:45 p.m. No injuries are being reported after a fire broke out at the Lake Louise Apartment, 516 N. Wilke Rd. on Friday night.  Just after 8:30 p.m. the Palatine Fire Department called a box alarm to receive aid from neighboring departments, after fire was reported to be heavy at the front door of the building, according to the Arlington Cardinal.  Fire was reported in one first floor apartment in addition to a second floor apartment, and everyone, including pets in the complex, were evacuated safely, the Arington Cardinal reports.  EARLIER: Details are still forthcoming, but more than a dozen emergency vehicles are currently on the scene at an apartment fire on the east edge of Palatine, where both floors of the…

Townhouse Fire in Palatine Causes $150K in Damage, Home Uninhabitable

The homeowner sustained burns and smoke inhalation, the fire started in the living room and there was extensive smoke damage.

A Palatine townhouse fire which started late Thursday night left the home uninhabitable. The homeowner suffered injuries and was transported to the hospital.  Acccording to a Palatine Fire Department press release, the fire was reported by a neighbor, and occurred at 1360 Knollwood Drive just before midnight Thursday.  When Palatine police and firemen arrived at midnight, fire was observed coming out of the front door and first floor windows, the press release stated.  The fire was extinguished and under control by 12:07 a.m., the release stated.  The homeowner, who was the only occupant, was attempting to extinguish the fire with a garden hose as police and firemen arrived, and did sustain smoke inhalation and burns on his hands. Fire Leaves Palatine Township Apartment Uninhabitable

The fire in the 1200 block of Long Valley Drive at Rand Road occurred around 11 a.m. Monday, and is currently under investigation.

Firefighters responded Monday to reports from multiple passers-by regarding a fire in the 1200 block of Long Valley Drive in Palatine Township, according to a press release from the Palatine Fire Department. No one was injured in the apartment fire at 1213 Long Valley Drive, and the tenants were not in the residence at the time of the incident.  Firefighters arrived at 11:01 a.m., the press release stated, and observed smoke coming from the ground-floor apartment in the 3-story, 6-apartment building. As excessive smoke and heat were present throughout, a third floor resident was assisted out of the building to safety. Pet Perishes in Palatine House Fire

Residents living in the 200 block of Cedarwood Court were not home on Tuesday at noon when the fire was reported by a passer-by. A cat succumbed to heavy smoke damage, which caused the single family house to be uninhabitable.

The residents of a Palatine home were fortunately not home Tuesday afternoon as a fire with heavy smoke caused the family cat to perish and left the home uninhabitable.  The call came in at noon Tuesday, November 20 from a passer-by, who reported smoke coming from the tri-level, single family home located at 229 E. Cedarwood Court.  Palatine firefighters were on the scene within minutes, and began to extinguish the fire and ventilate for smoke and other gases. It was declared under control at 12:11 p.m. During a search, it was discovered a cat in the residence succumbed to heavy smoke. Dog Sounds Alarm During Palatine House Fire

Palatine firefighters responded to a house fire in the 700 block of Evergreen at 3:01 this morning. The family dog woke up and alerted the family so they were able to get out safely.

The family dog living at 762 W. Evergreen could be credited with saving the lives of its owners. That's because the dog began to bark just before 3 a.m. and alerted the family to a fire burning in the garage. The family got out safely, and the Palatine Fire Department arrived on the scene at 3:01 a.m.. According to Batallion Chief Doug Hoyt, heavy fire was showing from the attached garage as firefighters arrived.  "We knocked down the main fire in the garage and another hoseline was brought into the house because it had extended into the first floor of the home" Hoyt said.  The blaze was under control by 3:24 a.m. and no injuries were sustained. Two Injured In Palatine Apartment Fire

Two people were injured Tuesday in an apartment fire.

One man was injured in an apartment fire in the 1400 block of Carol Court Tuesday. The Palatine Fire Department received the call at about 6:32 p.m. Firefighters arrived on the scene to find fire and smoke showing from the window of a secon floor apartment. Fire officials said that there were four people in the apartment at the time. The Cook County Sheriff's Department arrived before firefighters and were able to help evacuate the building, a press release stated. A man suffered minor burns and a woman had to be transported for a medical condition while firefighters were on the scene. Both individuals were transported to Northwest Community Hospital. Palatine Man Injured In Apartment Fire

A Palatine man was taken to Loyola University Medical Center with burns following a an early morning apartment fire.

One man was injured in an apartment building fire that began around 1 a.m. in the 1900 block of N. Green Lane North. Palatine Police officers were the first on the scene and assisted residents in evacuating the building, a press release from the fire department states. One adult male suffered burn injuries and was taken to Northwest Community Hospital and later was transferred to Loyola University Medical Center. Palatine firefighters could see heavy smoke from an open second floor balcony sliding door of the six-unit building when they arrived. No One Injured In Palatine Garage Fire

No one was injured in a garage fire in the 300 block of N. Westminster Drive in Palatine.

No one was injured in a garage fire in the 300 block of N. Westminster Drive in Palatine. The Palatine Fire Department received a call of smoke in a basement of a home at 10:31 p.m. Monday, Oct. 17 and responded in about five minutes. Firefighters arrived on the scene and discovered heavier smoke in the garage. Firefighters were able to contain the fire to the garage. One of the vehicles parked in the garage also was damaged. A press release from the fire department states that damage was initially estimated at $5,000 and "was minimized by the homeowner’s quick action in calling the fire department at the first notice of smoke in the house, allowing for the fire to be fought while still in an early stage." Rosati's Pizza Oven Explosion Being Investigated

The Palatine Fire Department is investigating why a Rosati's Pizza oven exploded Tuesday, injuring two workers.

The Palatine Fire Department is investigating the cause of an oven explosion at Rosati's Pizza that seriously burned a worker. Deputy Fire Chief Randy Freise said the fire department was called to Rosati's, 225 W. Dundee Rd., at 3:21 p.m. Tuesday, Sept. 13. "There was an explosion," Freise said. "Employees were either trying to start or restart a pizza oven." A female employee received second degree burns on 40 percent of her body and was taken to Northwest Community Hospital, Freise said. Another employee was treated at the scene. Freise said the explosion was a "flash fire" and was out when firefighters arrived. This happenned where I worked (Blind Faith Cafe-The Old One). Gas is nothing to take lightly. Older ovens need to be lit by hand. If the feed is turned on when lighting the pilot, a giant fireball will result, and burn anything in it's way. Not to mention the force of the fireball, which could take a 250lb man and knock him to the ground.   more ›
