Happy St. Patrick's Day! The weather was, fierce, on Saturday afternoon as cold wind blew, snowflakes floated through the air and temperatures were in the 30's-but hundreds of Palatine and area residents braved the weather to enjoy the parade. And the Irish Market, or maybe both! Share your St. Patty's Day pictures with Palatine Patch - your editor (yours truly) was marching in the parade handing out goodies to parade go-ers, and did not takes pictures of the parade!! Palatine’s “Paint the Town Green” celebration on Saturday, March 16th is more than just a parade, it’s a festival for everything Irish with food, drink, entertainment and shopping all throughout the town. “We are going to have a family-friendly day of celebration for St. Patrick’s Day,” said event coordinator, Liz Noe of ElizEvents. “Irish food, drink and entertainment will be available at a number of local establishments." There will be all kinds shopping opportunities and we’ll be collecting items to support the homeless and near-homeless through Journeys the Road Home during the parade, Noe said. The parade was awesome and the Irish Market was really cool and thanks to the staff at Durty Nellie's for being so much fun! Despite the crappy weather and us freezing our tails off out there watching the parade, it was still a really great time!
