Obituary: Richard A. Price of Palatine, Formerly of Franklin Park

Richard A. Price, Sr. passed away peacefully on Tuesday, May 21st. He was a veteran of WWII Pacific Theater, was awarded two Bronze Stars, the Purple Heart, and other war related medals. Services will be held on Thursday.

Richard A. Price, Sr. passed away peacefully on Tuesday, May 21st. He was a veteran of WWII Pacific Theater, was awarded two Bronze Stars, the Purple Heart, and other war related medals. He retired from Navistar in 1981. Richard was born to Ralph Kay Price and Jenny Oman Price in New Bedford, Massachusetts in May 1921.   Richard is survived by his wife Frances E. Price; his children Richard A. (Marilyn) Price, Jr., Cynthia (Clifton) Haslop and Keith (Debra) Price; proud grandfather of 10 grandchildren and 25 great grandchildren. Jeffrey Pryor lived in Lake Zurich, and is a former Palatine resident. He passed away suddenly at his home on March 15. A memorial visitation will be held this Thursday.

Obituary: Nellie Edna Baker of Palatine

A memorial service will be held for Nellie Baker, a more than 50 year Palatine resident, on Saturday, February 23.

Nellie Edna Baker (nee Nelson), 94, lived in Palatine since 1959. She was born August 17, 1918 in Anaconda, Montana, and passed away February 16, 2013 at ManorCare Nursing Center in Rolling Meadows. She was a charter member of Prince of Peace Lutheran Church, Palatine. Survivors include her daughters, Elizabeth (Kris) Gronert and Jeanette (Michael) Grondin; grandchildren, Stephen Kabaker, and Justin, Nicole and Rachel Grondin. Nellie was preceded in death by her parents, Nels and Hilma (nee Johansson) Nelson; brother, Einar Nelson; and her sister, Berta Zell.  A memorial service will be held Saturday, February 23 at 3 p.m. at Prince of Peace Lutheran Church, 1190 N. Francis A. "Frank" Leonora, 75, of Palatine, formerly of Chicago, was born May 14, 1937, he passed away February 9. Beloved father of Scott Leonora, Lisa (Todd) Milkovich, John Leonora and Laura Leonora. Friends, Family Organize Celebration of Life for John Giovannoni, Music Room Co-Owner

Friends and family will gather this Sunday, Feb. 17 at The Music Room.

The friends and family of John Giovannoni, former co-owner of The Music Room in Palatine, will gather this weekend to celebrate the local man's life. As a way to honor Giovannoni's dying wish to forgo a funeral and memorial service and instead throw a party, friends and family have organized a "Celebration of the life of John Giovannoni" for this Sunday, Feb. 17, according to the Daily Herald. Giovannoni, 45, died on Jan. 13, according to his obituary.  The celebration will be held from 2 to 8 p.m. at The Music Room, 20 North Brockway Ave., and will include music and fellowship with a brief tribute at 3 and 6 p.m., according to an invite posted online.  There will also be a slideshow of pictures of Giovannoni at different points of his …

Gladys I. Paine was a devoted animal care and animal rights advocate and an active member of of St. Paul United Church of Christ in Palatine. Visitation will be held Sunday and the funeral is scheduled for Monday.

Gladys I. Paine (nee Inglis) was born October 26, 1921 in Friockheim, Scotland, and she passed away January 17 at her home in Palatine. Gladys was active in, and a longtime member of St. Paul United Church of Christ in Palatine. She was devoted to animal care and animal rights.   Surviving is her son, Jonathan S. Paine. Obituary: Harry E. Rueckel of Palatine

Rueckel, 80, was a Korean War Air Force veteran, a devoted White Sox fan and enjoyed playing violin, among many other hobbies. He will be remembered on Saturday.

Harry E. Rueckel, 80, was a resident of Palatine since 1975. Harry was born on September 19, 1932 in Chicago, the son of the late Ernst and Elsie (nee Zimmermann) Rueckel and passed away peacefully on Tuesday, January 15th after fighting a courageous battle with lung cancer. He was a Korean War Air Force Veteran, and lived life to its fullest. He enjoyed many hobbies including cooking, gardening, traveling, bird watching, listening to classical music and playing his violin. Harry was a devoted White Sox Fan and member for many years of the Lyric Opera.   Most important in his life was the love he had for his family and especially his grandchildren.
