The American Legion Post 690 is sponsoring a Memorial Day Parade and other related activities on Monday, May 28th beginning at 10 a.m. with a service at Hillside Cemetery on Smith Street in Palatine.
Be sure to observe the 45-mph speed limit in all construction zones, whether or not workers are present. Otherwise, you could be ticketed a minimum of $375 for speeding in a work zone.

If your Memorial Day plans include a road trip via the tollway, you will have plenty of company. The Illinois Tollway is expecting approximately 7 million vehicles will travel the Tollway system this Memorial Day holiday from Friday, May 25, through Tuesday, May 29. The Tollway expects the heaviest travel on Friday, May 25, when nearly 1.6 million vehicles are projected to be on the road. On an average day, about 1.4 million vehicles use the Tollway. Tollway officials, in a prepared news release, stress the need to drive safely in construction work zones throughout the Illinois Tollway system. Edward Nixon, Former President Nixon’s brother, will narrate a piece with the band called "To Heal a Nation."
The symphonic band at Palatine High School will be performing at the Richard Nixon Library and Birthplace in Yorba Linda, CA in honor of Memorial Day. The band leaves for Southern California on Friday, May 25 and they will perform May 28 in the magnificent East Room of the Nixon Library. Edward Nixon, Former President Nixon’s brother, will narrate a piece with the band called "To Heal a Nation," said Raeleen H. Horn, music department chair, in an email to Patch.
