Patrick Hyundai Groundbreaking at Rand and Lake Cook Planned for Spring

The Patrick Dealer group has cleared the six acres at Rand and Lake Cook Roads in Palatine, and plans to open the new dealership by December 1.

If you've driven by where Rand and Lake Cook Roads meet lately, you have seen six acres of wide open land ready for development. The Patrick Dealer Group recently cleared the property at the southeast corner of the intersection, and a spring groundbreaking is planned for a new 35,000 square foot Patrick Hyundai dealership at the location.  "The site has been completely cleared and we are anticipating excavation to start by March 1, weather permitting," said Martin Stilwell, chief operating officer for The Patrick Dealer Group.  The goal, Stilwell said, is to have the dealership up and running by December 1 of this year. Keeping Illinois Roads Safe for the Holidays

Fatalities on state highways increase this year and agencies remind drivers to be safe.

Traffic fatalities on Illinois roads have been increasing this year, the figure so far is 937. And that has prompted the Illinois Department of Transportation and the Illinois Tollway system to remind drivers to be safe, as millions of motorists hit the road for the holidays.  The Illinois Tollway alone expects 15.7 million vehicles on the tollway system during the Christmas and New Year holidays, through Jan. 2. From 2009-2011, traffic fatalities were under 1,000, said Josh Kauffman, Illinois Department of Transportation (IDOT) spokesman, and are the lowest figures since 1921.  But the 813 fatalities already this year, figures could go beyond 1,000 based on the number of deaths that normally occur over the holiday period.  There are a …

Palatine Police Step Up Patrols for Thanksgiving Holiday Week

"Drive Sober or Get Pulled Over" and "Click it or Ticket" campaigns will be implemented now through November 25. Saturation patrols will be out on the roads to look for impaired drivers, speeders and those not adhering to safety restraint laws.

The Palatine Police Department is partnering with the Illinois Department of Transportation (IDOT) to increase safety on the streets through the Thanksgiving holiday period. Now through November 25, residents should expect to see more uniformed officers on the streets to keep the roadways as safe as possible.  Statistics police point to show that between 11 p.m. and 6 a.m., the most serious traffic accidents, which involve driving under the influence, speeding and failure to buckle up, are documented historically.  The increased patrols are funded by grants from IDOT. Palatine Police Make 4 DUI Arrests, Ticket 117 Over Holiday Patrol

The focus of the campaign was to get intoxicated motorists off the roads, reduce speeding and make sure vehicle occupants were wearing seat belts.

The Palatine Police Department issued 117 tickets and made four DUI arrests during stepped-up patrols for the Memorial Day weekend. The department used a traffic-safety grant from the Illinois Department of Transportation to boost the number of officers on roadways during their Memorial Day Holiday Traffic Safety Crackdown, a press release from the department states. The focus of this campaign was to get intoxicated motorists off the roads, reduce speeding and make sure vehicle occupants were kept safe through the enforcement of seat belt and child restraint use. Through the holiday, Palatine police uniformed officers hit the streets on dedicated traffic enforcement saturation patrols and seat belt enforcement zones throughout the village…
