Starting Friday, May 10 through Monday, May 27, Palatine Police will conduct saturation patrols focused on DUI and seatbelt enforcement.

Palatine Police, with the assistance of grant funding provided by the Illinois Department of Transportation, we will be participating in the Memorial Day Holiday Traffic Safety Campaign from May 10th through May 27th, 2013. Enforcement will consist of uniformed officers in marked patrol vehicles on dedicated saturation patrols focusing on DUI and seatbelt enforcement. Additionally, the police department will initiate six Safety Belt Enforcement Zones (SBEZ’s) throughout Palatine to enforce seat belt use. During the St. Patrick's Day holiday period from March 14-17, Palatine Police were out in force between midnight and 3 a.m. to minimize the deadliest times on roadways.

The Palatine Police Department partnered with the Illinois Department of Transportation in their St. Patrick’s Day Holiday Traffic Safety Crackdown. Through a traffic safety grant, I.D.O.T. supplied funds to increase the number of uniformed Palatine Police officers on the roadways enforcing traffic laws over the St. Patrick’s Day Holiday period between March 14th - 17th. The focus of this campaign was to get intoxicated motorists off the roads and make sure vehicle occupants were kept safe through the enforcement of seat belt use. During the holiday enforcement campaign from December 17, 2012 through January 1, 2012, offenses included those for seatbelt violations, DUI, possession of cannabis and other offenses.
The “Click it or Ticket” and “Drive Sober or Get Pulled Over” campaign sponsored by Palatine Police and the Illinois Department of Transportation netted more than 60 arrests an/or tickets between December 17, 2012 and January 1, 2013. Commander Mike Seebacher with the Palatine Police Department said in a press release the offenses were discovered through regular patrols in addition to roadside safety checks conducted in Palatine through the holiday period. It is one of the statistics that local and state police hope makes you think twice about drinking and driving, especiall tonight as holiday celebrations continue for New Year's Eve. Palatine Police will again be working to keep the roads safe as holiday celebrations commence from Christmas to New Year's Eve during the holiday enforcement campaign. The “Click it or Ticket” and “Drive Sober or Get Pulled Over” campaign partnership between Palatine Police and IDOT netted dozens of tickets and five DUI arrests between November 12-25.
There were 98 tickets issued for various violations and five DUI arrests were made during the Thanksgiving Holiday Enforcement Campaign by Palatine Police. In partnership with the Illinois Department of Transportation (IDOT), police enforced “Click it or Ticket” and “Drive Sober or Get Pulled Over” between November 12-25. Similar campaigns are held around July 4, Labor Day and Christmas. A traffic safety grant awarded by IDOT enabled police to increase patrols during that time period to ensure residents driving on Palatine roads were kept safe during holiday celebrations.
