Lions Club Candy Day coming to Palatine Oct. 8 and Oct. 9.
I always make a donation to the Lions Club during their annual Candy Day collection. Every few years, I gather all the outdated prescription eyeglasses in our family and drop them in a Lions Club collection box. I do these things to honor my dad's memory. He was a charter member of his Lions Club chapter for 47 years. Lions Club Candy Day is October 8 and 9. So this weekend, I'll be thinking of him when I unwrap that roll of Lions candies. Candy Day has been a Lions Club tradition since 1952. Members of the Palatine Lions Club will be at local intersections and shopping centers this weekend accepting donations.
