The Palatine Village Council has approved about 9,856 square feet of sidewalk to fill gaps in the Rand Road corridor.
Palatine is adding sidewalks in the Rand Road corridor to complete and fill any gaps. The Village Council approved a bid of $116,256 from Kings Point of Bensenville for the project. Palatine will be putting in about 9,856 square feet of 5 inch sidewalk on the Rand Road corridor between Route 53 and Hicks Road. Village Manager Reid Ottesen said this project should fill all of the sidewalk gaps in that area. "I would like to thank staff for keeping after this for so many years," said District 4 Council member Greg Solberg. "It's a one piece at a time, as this thing finishes the program. The Palatine Village Council Monday unanimously supported the sale of village owned land to Bridgestone Retail Operations. The final sale of the property will be subject to a public hearing and will hinge on whether the company is able to get zoning approval. Currently, Tore & Lukes Restaurant sits at the corner of Rand Road and Spruce Drive. The proposed new Bridgestone Firestone tire facility would be built adjacent to the northwest. Approval from the council gives Village Manager Reid Ottesen the green light to negotiate the sale of the property, which is listed at $870,000.
