Fremd's C.J. Patton Wins State Gymnastic's Title

Patton came home with a first place finish in the pommel horse and an 11th place finish in the all-around finals.

Fremd High School's C.J. Patton took home a first place finish at the state gymnastics's meet this past weekend at Lincoln-Way East High School Frankfurt.  C.J. Patton, a senior at Fremd, finished first in the pommel horse with a final score of 9.550 and also received a medal in the all-around finals, finishing in 11th place with a final score of 51.750, according to the Illinois High School Association website.  Patton also placed 11th in the prelims for the floor exercise, 48th in the prelims for the still rings, 26th in the prelims for vault, 22nd in the prelims for the parallel bars and 17th in the prelims for the horizontal bars.  The following local Palatine High School students also made the trip to state:

Palatine Takes Top Honors at Foerch Invitational

The gymnastics competition was held this past weekend.

Palatine received top honors at the Foerch Invitiational hosted in Palatine Saturday, according to the Daily Herald.  Combining scores from the freshman, sophomore and varsity levels, Palatine finished first with 275.15 points over Deerfield and Naperville North, according to the Daily Herald.

Palatine Gymnasts Head to State Meet

Gymnasts from Fremd High School and Palatine High School will be competing in the state meet at Palatine High School this weekend.

Follow Palatine Patch on Facebook — Sign up for Palatine Patch breaking news alerts Several area gymnasts will be competing at state this weekend.  The Fremd High School gymnastics team placed second at sectionals with a score of 146.225 and has qualified for the state meet, according to the Illinois High School Association website.  The team finished behind Crystal Lake’s Prairie Ridge High School co-op, which had a total score of 149.525 at the Feb. 4 Fremd High School sectional. In addition, several Fremd and Palatine High School gymnasts qualified individually for the state meet, which will be held at Palatine High School on Feb. 15 and Feb. 16. Gymnastics Club Moving To Palatine's Old Brunswick Zone

The Palatine Village Council approved the move of the American Academy of Gymnastics to the old Brunswick Zone bowling alley building at 519 S. Consumers Avenue.

The American Academy of Gymnastics will be moving from Wheeling to the old Brunswick Zone bowling alley in Palatine. The American Academy of Gymnastics has been in Wheeling at 280 E. Palatine Rd., for more than 25 years, said CEO and Manager Kurt Waller. "We would like to expanded on that business and improve the facility," Waller said. The village council approve the move earlier this week. The academy will use 18,000 square feet at 519 S. Consumers Ave. Waller said the gymnastics club plans to rent the remaining 12,000 square feet for another sports related use. Waller said the bowling will undergo a face-lift and renovation to become usable for the gymnastics club. He said they could be ready at the new location by 2013. He added that …

Inverness Girl Wins Gold At USA Gymnastics Open Championships

Kayla Colby of Inverness won gold in the all-around competition.

Kayla Colby of Inverness won gold at the USA Gymnastics Open Championships this month. The ESPM Wide World of Sports event was held on June 3 in Orlando. Colby, 13, won a gold medal in the all-around competition with a 37.8 score and helped her team, Balance Institute Gymnastics of Burr Ridge, win the Level 7 title. Balance Institute was invited to compete in the USA Gymnastics meet as the Illinois State Champions and won first place in the national competition with a team total of 115.10. Colby also won the silver medal for vault (9.45), silver medal for bars (9.225), gold medal for beam (9.5), and silver medal for floor (9.625).
