Fremd Girls Golf Finishes 10th At State

The Fremd girls golf team capped off their season with a 10th place finish at state.

The Fremd girls golf team finished their season with a 10th place finish at state. In the first round, the Vikings were led by Junior Angie Kim who shot an 80 for eight over par. The other top scores for Fremd were a 91 from senior Christiana Kim, a 92 from senior Madison Zyer and a 95 from sophmore Jennifer Kim. Senior Payton McAbee and sophmore Dorothy Feng shot 102 and 109 respectively. The AA golf finals were held at Hickory Point Golf Course in Forsyth. Overall the team shot a plus 70 on the course. In the second round, Fremd shot a plus 66 on the course for a two-round score of plus 136 In the second round Angie Kim again led the way with an 83 followed by Zyer (88), Payton McAbee (88), Christiana Kim (95), Dorothy Feng (96), and …

The Salt Creek Rural Park District offers numerous youth activities including a golf league just for kids.

The Salt Creek Rural Park District offers numerous activites for children at the Twin Lakes Golf Course and Recreation Center. The overall policy at Twin Lakes is that golfers 11 and younger can play at any open tee time if accompanied by an adult. Twin Lakes also offers a pee wee golf academy for children 3 to 6 years old. and a junior academy for children 7 to 17 years old. There are corresponding leagues for younger and older children as well. Aside from golf Twin Lakes offers Kayaks and Kayak lessons for anyone 13 years old and older. The lessons cost $40. It can be tough to keep your golf swing sharp during a long Chicago winter. For Liz Francis of Palatine, a visit or three to the Buffalo Grove Golf and Sports Center helps. Francis recently was at the center preparing for an upcoming trip to Florida. Francis is visiting the Sunshine State for five days later this month, just enough time for five rounds of golf, she said. “I’m an addict,” she said of her affection for the game. “I love it.” The idea of tuning up your game before a winter trip or in time for spring is not uncommon, said Craig Bertrand, a teaching PGA professional who conducts classes at the dome.
