In October, Mike Solberg, the son of Palatine Village Councilman Greg Solberg, realized his dreams and was sworn into the Schaumburg Fire Department. And just a couple of weeks ago, the young firefighter who lives in Park Ridge, learned he has stage 4 brain cancer. A fundraiser will be held by his fellow firefighters this coming Sunday. "We just wanted to help out our brother, we wanted to help his family and no one should go through this alone," said Jeanine Kubalewski, a Schaumburg firefighter who volunteered to help organize the event. Chris Jones, a contestant on Bravo TV's Top Chef, will serve a one-of-a-kind meal in Grayslake to raise money for the Northern illinois Food Bank.
Diners from throughout Chicagoland can experience a unique menu during Dinner for the Cause, a fundraiser to help fight hunger. Chef Chris Jones, a Grayslake local known from being a contestant on Bravo TV's Top Chef, Moto Restaurant of Chicago and Discovery Channel's Future Foods, teamed up with Mike Pruitt, owner of The Vine Martini and Wine Bar in Grayslake. Tickets for the special seven-course meal paired with wine are $100 each. Only 100 tickets are available. The event will be held on Oct. 20. The Palatine Township Senior Center is hosting a fundraiser at Golf Nation.
The Palatine Township Senior Center will hold a fundraiser at Gold Nation 399 N. Quentin Road on June 23. For $35 a person or $50 for a pair, attendees will receive one drink, appetizers, and participation in three events: a closest to pin competition, longest drive, and a putting contest. “It’s cool that it’s indoors,” Senior Center spokesperson Julie Selof said. “You don’t have to worry about the weather and we have a lot of great prizes to give away." Benefit Dinner at The Lamplighter Inn June 16.
The Bridge Youth and Family Services will have its first fundraising dinner Thursday, June 16 at the Lamplighter Inn Tavern & Grille. The event will take place from 5:30 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. at 60 N. Bothwell St. in Palatine. The Bridge Youth and Family Services Development Director Carrie McHaley, said the fundraiser will support a variety of programs offered by the human services agency. “We hope people will come out and socialize and support The Bridge and their community,” McHaley said. The fundraising dinner will include a buffet of pizza, wraps, salads, and other items as well as soft drinks.
