Fremd Finishes Strong in IHSA State Gymnastics Meet

The Fremd gymnastics team placed overall third in the Illinois High School Association State Gymnastics meet held at Palatine High School Friday and Saturday.

The Fremd High School gymnastics team took third place overall with a score of 146.050 at the IHSA State Gymnastics Meet held at Palatine High School.  First place was clinched by Lyons High School in LaGrange, who scored 149.625, and Prairie Ridge in Crystal Lake took second place with a score of 149.300. The competition, held Friday, February 15 and Saturday, February 16 at Palatine High School, included vault, uneven bars, balance beam and floor exercise.  The overall individual winner of the state meet was Lauren Freely from Carmel High School in Mundelein.  For information on full results, visit the IHSA website. Fremd Gymnastics Finishes Fourth At State

Fremd's 20th straight state appearance ended in a fourth place finish.

Fremd and Sydney Plichta made the most out of the Vikings’ state-record 20th consecutive appearance at the state finals. Plichta, who is a freshman, finished tied for third on the parallel bars. Her performance along with Shannon Lemajeur, who was 21st in the all-around, gave Fremd a fourth-place finish with a 146.55. Carmel finished first in state for the third straight year. “It was really exciting,” said Plichta, who tied for third on the bars with a 9.50 and finished 7th on the beam. “It was extremely fun to be out there as a freshman. My team helped me so much.” The Vikings also got strong performances from Stephanie Uhrich and Stephanie Gallo, who both just missed qualifying on the bars along with Emily Pinderski and Christine Jensen…

Fremd Misses IHSA Sectional Win By 0.275

Fremd Varsity Gymnastics narrowly missed the podium top spot at the IHSA Girls Gymnastics Sectional Meet held at Lake Park High School on Tuesday night. Team scores reflect the outstanding gymnastics at the sectional meet. Prairie Ridge Coop out scored Fremd by 0.275 points by posting a first place score of (147.25). Fremd followed with a (146.975). Prospect High School was third (145.05), Palatine High School was fourth (141.25), Conant was fifth (140.45) and Barrington High School finished sixth (139.0). Fremd had a rough start on floor and vault but demonstrated its potential on bars and beam. Fremd junior Stephanie Gallo won the bar event with (9.625), Shannon Lemajeur was second (9.45) and freshman Sydney Plichta was fourth (9.3). …

Fremd Gymnastics Team Wins Regional

Fremd Varsity gymnastics team wins regional.

The Fremd Vikings gymnastics team won its regional beating Lake Park, and Buffalo Grove. Individuals from Dundee Crown and Jacobs High School also competed. Fremd (144.525) topped the team standings followed by Lake Park (134.30) and Buffalo Grove (125.275). Fremd out scored their competitors on three of the four events. Shannon Lamajeur lead the Vikings with top scores (9.375) on vault and (9.425) beam, Sydney Plichta topped the bars event (9.275). Allison Riedel from Jacobs High School, was first on the floor exercise, (9.05). The floor exercise gave the Vikings some trouble, but the girls were quick to regroup and excel on beam. Fremd Wins Mid Suburban League Gymnastics Title

Fremd finished first in the Mid Suburban League Conference meet held at Prospect High School.

Prospect High School hosted the Mid Suburban League varsity conference gymnastics meet Friday. Two of the teams were undefeated, Fremd and Prospect. Fremd took first, with a score of 146.40 and Prospect followed with a score of 143.475. Palatine High School finished a strong third with a 140.70. Barrington took fourth (139.70) and Conant place fifth (139.675). Fremd senior, Stephanie Uhrich captured the all around title with an all around score of 37.55 after an outstanding performance on floor of 9.575. Palatine High School junior Nicole Kuksuk finishing with an all around seventh place finish. Fremd tied for second on bars with Freshman Sydney Plichta scoring a 9.225. Fremd Takes Second at Lincoln Way Invite

The Fremd girls gymnastics team took second at Lincoln Way Saturday.

Fremd Varsity Girls Gymnastics Team placed second at the Lincoln Way Invite, in Frankfort. Fremd, with a team score of 144.775, was narrowly out scored by Glenbard North in the team competition which posted a 145.275. Fremd was pleased with the strong showing after a week marked by the loss of two team leaders, Stephanie Gallo and Anna Johnson with injuries. Fremd took first place in the team competition in bars (35.7). Freshman Sydney Plichta placed 1st with a 9.5 followed by juniors, Emily Pinderski, in 3rd with an 8.9 and Mary Smaga (5th) with an 8.7. Fremd Ladies Gymnastics Sweeps Meet

Barrington and Hoffman Estates come up short against Fremd.

The Fremd Girls Gymnastics team traveled to Barrington to compete in a meet against Hoffman Estates and Barrington high schools Tuesday. All three Fremd teams – varsity, junior JV and Freshman – were top score recipients. Scores were: Fremd 143 points, Barrington 136 points and Hoffman Estates 115 points. Individually Fremd performed well. Junior Stepanie Gallo completed the competition with an all around score of 36.25. Gallo was first on Vault (9.35) and Floor (9.5). Fremd Gymnastics Wins Big Purple Invite

Hamman gets first invitational victory

When he accepted the Fremd girl’s gymnastics head coaching job last Spring, Tim Hamman knew he would have big shoes to fill. Hamman is just the third coach in Fremd girls’ gymnastics history. He inherits a program that has won 12 state titles and has advanced to the state finals for 19 consecutive years. “This is the top gymnastics program in the state,” said Hamman, who was an assistant coach under Jim Guest until Guest retired last year. “It has been interesting and quite an experience so far. I can say it has been a great experience. I have tremendous support from the girls, the parents, our administration and the rest of our coaches.
