Smith Street Station is a place for conversation and cocktails, the owners say.
There’s a new watering hole in downtown Palatine. The owners of Durty Nellies and Duke’s Alehouse in Crystal Lake are taking what they’ve learned in the bar business and they’re applying it to an entirely new concept. Smith Street Station, 180 N. Smith Street, located next door to Durty Nellies, is scheduled to open April 27. It is aimed at being place for “conversation and cocktails,” said one of the owners, Jim Dolezal. Dolezal’s business partner is his brother, Mark Dolezal. “This will be more of a neighborhood bar,” Dolezal said. While the two bars may be part of the same building, Dolezal said they are geared toward two different crowds. The following information was taken from Palatine police reports.
March 24 Stephen A. Hamontree, 26, of Palatine, was charged with felony retail theft after allegedly taking about $729 worth of DVDs from Walmart, 1555 N. Rand Rd. Police said Hamontree entered Walmart with a black and green bag under his shirt, went to the DVD section and loaded the cart with DVDs. Police said he then went to a clothing area, used a shirt to cover up the cart and placed the DVDs in the bag and inside a sweatshirt he was wearing. Police were called and Hamontree was arrested after foot chase. He also was charged with resisting a police officer. March 24 Grecia Delarosa, 19, of Palatine was charged with possession of cannabis after a traffic stop about 10:36 p.m. near the intersection of Dundee Road and Baldwin. Police said…
