Pi Kappa Alpha International Fraternity, Inc. has issued a statement after the family of David Bogenberger, 19, of Palatine decided to name them in a lawsuit, according to the Daily Herald.

The family of Palatine native David Bogenberger, who died after being involved in an alcohol-related incident at his NIU fraternity, is suing Pi Kappa Alpha International Fraternity, the local chapter and officers involved, the Daily Herald reports.
The family of David Bogenberger, a Palatine High School 2012 graduate, is suing the fraternity they believe are responsible for the young man's death in an alcohol-related hazing incident, the Daily Herald reports. Just before Christmas 2012, 22 arrest warrants were issued for members of the fraternity involved the night that Bogenberger, 19, had a blood alcohol content of 0.351, close to five times the legal limit for driving while at the fraternity. A Northfield man facing hazing charges following the death of David Bogenberger, 19, at a Northern Illinois University fraternity house, has surrendered to Northfield Police. Bogenberger was found dead in his NIU fraternity house on November 2. James P. Harvey, 21, turned himself in on Dec. 19 on a $15,000 warrant out of DeKalb County for hazing not sanctioned by the institution and hazing with bodily harm, police said. Harvey was released after posting $1,500 cash bond, or 10 percent of the bond, and was issued a Dec. 28 court date in DeKalb County, police said. About half of the NIU students facing criminal hazing charges in the death of David Bogenberger, 19, of Palatine, surrendered to police Tuesday.
Thirteen of the 22 Northern Illinois University students facing criminal hazing charges in the death of David Bogenberger, 19, formerly of Palatine, turned themselves into police Tuesday, the Associated Press reports. Members of the Pi Kappa Alpha fraternity started to surrender after 22 arrest warrants were issued Monday. According to reports, five people were charged with felony hazing, and 17 face misdemeanor charges. Yahoo News reported late Tuesday seven of the men turned themselves in to authorities in Delkab; all have since bonded out. The others surrendered at different police stations, no information was immediately available on whether they posted bond.
