Win Free Tickets for Cutting Hall Holiday Performances

The Palatine Park District is holding a sweepstakes to win free tickets to a number of different holiday performances.

Cutting Hall Performing Arts Center is your theater for the holiday season. Located in the heart of Palatine at 150 E. Wood Street, the theater boasts performances by seven talented groups from now through the end of December. Enter to win four tickets to seven different performances including choral, band, and musical theater. The Palatine Park District is offering residents a chance to win free tickets to Cutting Hall by entering the sweepstakes on the Park District and Cutting Hall Facebook Pages.   Get more information about all of the holiday performances or purchase your tickets today at www.cuttinghall.org. Blue Whiskey Film Festival Runs Through Sunday

A program of 30 short and feature length films has been finalized. Films include Red Balls, a Chicago produced mockumentary about dodge ball, as well as Parrot, a short film all the way from Australia.

Local Theater Troupe Brings 'Avenue Q' to Palatine

The fun and edgy musical will performed at Cutting Hall in Palatine from June 2 to 17.

What would happen if the characters from the PBS show Sesame Street grew up and went a little wild? That’s the premise behind Avenue Q, a Tony Award-winning musical coming to Palatine's Cutting Hall Performing Arts Center. From June 2 to 17, Music on Stage will present the Chicagoland premiere of Avenue Q, a comedy intended for adult audiences that features the use of puppets by the actors. The musical tells the story of Princeton, a recent college graduate who moves to New York and meets several colorful characters along the way. Becky Lugovsky of Barrington is producing the local show. She previously choreographed Music on Stage performances of Miss Saigon and Jesus Christ Superstar and acted in Music on Stage's performance of Dracula, …

Palatine Attorney Launches Theater Company

Elroy "Sandy" Sandquist has announced the creation of the Fremont Street Theater Company, Inc.

Attorney, businessman and 20-year Palatine resident Elroy “Sandy” Sandquist has created the Fremont Street Theater Company, Inc., an Illinois nonprofit organization. A longtime theater aficionado, Sandquist’s childhood love for great theater was rekindled more than a decade ago when his young daughters were cast in productions by the Wood Street Theater Company that played for many years at Palatine’s Cutting Hall on the corner of Wood and Fremont streets. “It changed their lives,” Sandquist stated in a press release. “And their experiences on that stage helped shaped them into the people who they are today.” Now that his daughters are grown, Sandquist wants to continue to offer an opportunity to those with a love of the theater to perform…

Palatine Concert Band: Holiday Concert

The Palatine Concert Band will have its Holiday Concert, Friday Dec. 9 at 7 p.m. at Cutting Hall.

The Palatine Concert band will perform its Holiday Concert Friday Dec. 9 at 7 p.m. at Cutting Hall, 150 E. Wood St. The concert band is a volunteer, adult organization according to the group's website. The ensemble "provides an outlet for both avocational and professional musicians to perform fine wind band literature, and serves the Chicagoland area as a musical organization of high quality," the website states. Allegro Community Chorus Presented its 9th Annual Holiday Concert

Allegro Community Chorus presented its 9th holiday concert “Home for the Holidays” on Sunday, Dec. 3.

Allegro Community Chorus presented its 9th holiday concert “Home for the Holidays” on Sunday, Dec. 3, to an audience of more than 200 people in Palatine’s Cutting Hall Performing Arts Center. Directed by Brent Boyens and accompanied by Michelle Nunez, Allegro performers offered old favorites like Sleigh Ride, Do You Hear What I Hear, and Silver Bells, but also some lesser-known holiday pieces like Mary, Did You Know and Carol of the Kings. Soloists Lindsey Weiss, Deb Cross, Jeanne Surdo, Sheree Sacks, Brenda Korecky, and Ginny Millar presented a 20-minute montage of pieces like Believe and Rudolph the Red-Nosed Reindeer. The Allegro Community Choir will perform the 'Home for the Holidays' at Cutting Hall Sunday, Dec. 4.

The Allegro Community Choir will perform their annual December concert “Home for the Holidays” on Sunday, Dec. 4 at 6:30 at the Cutting Hall Performing Arts Center, 150 E. Wood St., Palatine. Enjoy old favorites like O Holy Night and God Rest You Merry, Gentlemen and more contemporary holiday songs like Sleigh Ride and the always popular Silver Bells.
