Fundraiser Planned for Palatine-Inverness Crime Stoppers Launch

The non-profit organization relies on private donations to reward anonymous tipsters who help solve crimes.

The newly formed Palatine-Inverness Crime Stoppers is holding a fundraiser on Valentines Day at Durty Nellies. The non-profit organization is made up of citizens and business people from Palatine and Inverness, and relies on private donations to support monetary rewards of up to $1,000 given to tipsters whose information leads to an arrest. According to a release from the organization, their mission is, "to promote community welfare by partnering with residents, law enforcement, and the media to create and promote a crime reporting mechanism which both rewards reporters of criminal activity and protects them from retaliation by maintaining complete anonymity".   A Naperville man has been charged with reckless homicide in the deaths of two Elmhurst residents for  allegedly driving his Porsche at a high rate of speed into oncoming traffic on I-88, Aug. 6. Witnesses reported seeing William Howe, a dentist, drive erratically and throwing wads of cash out the window. Lake County Crime Stoppers is offering a $5000 reward for information leading to the arrest of the driver that struck and killed 18-year-old Gabriella Drozdz, July 22, in Lake Zurich.
