Village of Palatine Primary Election: One New Candiate, No Challenges So Far

Today is the final day to file paperwork for the February 26, 2012 primary for mayor, village clerk and village council seats. The sole new candidate is Tim Millar, incumbents Schwantz, Duer, Solberg and Helms all reportedly plan to run again.

There are a total of five elected seats that will be open for the February 26 primary election in the village of Palatine, and if you are interested in one of them, you have until 5 p.m. today to submit your paperwork. Mayor Jim Schwantz's four-year term is up, and he plans to file paperwork before the deadline, in addition to District 4 Councilman Greg Solberg, whose term also is up, according to Village Clerk Marg Duer. Duer said she and Brad Helms, District 6 councilman, both filed to reclaim their elected positions as village clerk and councilman, repsectively, on Monday, November 19.  The sole newcomer is Tim Millar, a current member of the District 15 school board.
