The Cook County Medical Examiner's Office launched a web page Wednesday that includes photos of unclaimed bodies and is meant to help families identify the deceased. (Readers are advised that the images available through the above links may be disturbing and/or graphic). The medical examiner decided to launch the new feature after working with the National Missing and Unidentified Persons System's website in recent months, posing information about some unidentified bodies, including one woman who was later identified, according to the Chicago Tribune. Cook County Sheriff Thomas J. Dart is warning senior citizens to be cautious when someone comes to their door claiming to be a worker and has no proper identification – that “worker” may be trying to rob them of their valuables. In this type of burglary, offenders pose as some type of home repair, utility, or village employee. They tell the victims they have a question or an issue they need to discuss with them and will try to lure them outside or in the basement. The “worker” often is talking in a language other than English to let another individual know when to come inside. While the victim is distracted with questions or offer of service from the “worker,” the other goes inside the residence and takes cash, jewelry, or other items. …

Palatine May 17 A no-bond first degree murder arrest warrant has been obtained by the Cook County Sheriff’s Police Department for Vidal Rodriguez, aka “Chi-Town”, of the 80 block of Carriage Hill Road in Wheeling, Cook County Sheriff Thomas J. Dart announced Thursday. Rodriguez, 20, is wanted for an unprovoked murder that occurred on May 12 at approximately 9:30 a.m. in the Whispering Winds apartment complex located near the southeast corner of Lake-Cook Road and IL Route 53 in Unincorporated Palatine Township. He has previous arrests in his history and is a member of the Maniac Latin Disciples. Palatine Township resident Jason Dubas, 38, has been found and reunited with his family.
The Cook County Sheriff's Department said that a Palatine Township man reported missing Nov. 18 has been found and reunited with his family. The department issued a short statement that 38-year-old Jason Dubas was located and reunited with his family on Sunday, Nov. 20. Dubas was safe and unharmed.

Cook County Sheriff’s Police will conduct a roadside safety checkpoint during the evening hours on Friday, Sept. 2 near Busse Woods, Central Grove #4, located on W. Higgins Road in Schaumburg, Cook County Sheriff Thomas J. Dart said in a press release. During the safety check, vehicles will be stopped randomly based on the flow of traffic. Drivers will be screened for proper licensing and registration while all vehicles will be checked for equipment and other violations. Also, any suspicious passengers will be subject to questioning by police. The Sheriff’s Random Roadside Safety Check Program is conducted regularly across Cook County in an effort to promote safe driving.

A Buffalo Grove man was ticketed for leaving the scene of an accident Monday.
A Buffalo Grove man has been ticketed for leaving the scene of an accident after a crash during rush hour Monday. Cook County Sheriff's Police said Muhammad Memon, 28, was trying to merge near the intersection of Route 53 and Dundee Road in Palatine. The crash occurred at about 4:10 p.m. Police said Memon, who was driving a 2000 Honda, was attempting to merge and struck the front of a 2001 Jeep Cherokee. The Jeep then hit a light-post. The incident occurred near an area with road construction, police said. A spokesperson for the Cook County Sheriff's Department said no one was seriously injured in the incident. Memon was ticketed for failure to notify police of an accident and leaving the scene of an accident.

How sad that they felt like they had to do this. Those people must've died lonely. One of the addresses is just blocks from where i grew up. Can't imagine someone dying there and having the authorities find the body.   more ›
