Bomb Update: Explosive found in Rolling Medows

Just one day after eight homemade chemical bombs were found in Palatine, an explosive device was located in Rolling Meadows.

As the Palatine Police Department continues to investigate the eight homemade chemical bombs found Sunday, another device popped in the area, just outside of Palatine. Police found a homemade explosive device in the 900 block of Carnegie Street, right off of Rohlwing Road in Rolling Meadows Monday afternoon. According to the Daily Herald, the Rolling Meadows Police Department is investigating but have yet to determine how the device was made or what it was. Authorities do not believe there is a connection between the homemade chemical bombs located in Palatine and the device found in Rolling Meadows.  “This is just getting stupid,” said Palatine resident Cathy Martin, “We’re going to end up with a lot of hurt kids if this doesn’t stop.” …

Frist the abduction, then the chemical bombs in Palatine, now another bomb in Rolling Meadows. Today, we learn that we have fights at Palatine High School. What is next? Are we to expect pick up trucks with 50 caliber machine guns shooting up our neieghborhoods? The police forces have to engage with the residents and plan for future attacks.   more ›

Eight Chemical Bombs Found in Palatine

The Cook County Bomb squad disarmed several chemical bombs found at the Randville Condominiums, less than one mile from Palatine High School.

OUTSIDE CHICAGO -- The local bomb squad disarmed and removed eight chemical bombs from a courtyard at a condominium development Sunday, police said. According to the Palatine Police Department, filled with bleach, the eight “Macgyver type bombs,” or homemade chemical bombs were found around the courtyard behind the Randville Condominiums in Palatine at 1116 E. Randville Drive, less than one mile from Palatine High School. A nearby resident spotted one of the devices and called 911 Sunday about 1:15 p.m. Deputy Fire Chief William Gabrenya said firefighters from a distance were able to confirm the presence of several devices in the courtyard of Randville Condominiums and verified the potential hazard of the chemical bombs.  Gabrenya said …
