Rep. Peter Roskam is unable to attend Patch, League of Women Voters candidate forum due to a prior commitment.
Rep. Peter Roskam (R-Wheaton) on Friday notified the League of Women Voters (LWV) of the Palatine Area he will not be able to attend an Oct. 11 candidate forum in Palatine because of a previous commitment. Last month, Patch partnered with the LWV to invite candidates in the Illinois 6th Congressional District race to a candidate forum at 7 p.m. Thursday, Oct. 11 at Palatine Village Hall. The invitation was the group's second attempt to host such a debate, after Rep. Roskam was unable to attend the Oct. 4 event. Candidate Leslie Coolidge (D-Barrington) previously accepted the Oct. 4 and Oct. 11 invitations. Candidates from several races including the 8th Congressional district and 54th State Representative district have been invited.
The League of Women Voters Palatine Area will host a candidate forum Oct. 2 at 350 W. Schaumburg Rd., in Schaumburg. The event will be from 9 a.m. to noon and is being co-sponsored with Friendship Village of Schaumburg. The event is free and open to the public. Candidates from several races in the Nov. 2 election will be in attendance including 8th Congressional District Republican candidate Joe Walsh and Green Party candidate Bill Scheurer. Incumbent Democrat Melissa Bean, who has served the district since 2005, will not be in attendance.
