Cary Three Injured in Blaze at Industrial Building in Cary Three workers were injured in an explosion and fire at Fox Valley Systems in Cary on Wednesday. Nearby buildings had to be evacuated due to the paint and chemicals contained in the building, officials said. Two people injured in the explosion have been transferred to the burn unit at Loyola Hospital and the third victim was sent to the St. Anthony Hospital Burn Unit in Rockford, according to Cary Fire Lt. Andy Veath. Investigators from the Cary Fire Protection District, Occupational Safety and Health Administration and Illinois State Fire Marshals are still investigating what caused the two explosions and the subsequent fire. Car Burglary and Criminal Damage A victim reported his white 2011 Dodge pickup was damaged burglarized while parked at the Holiday Inn Express, 1550 E. Dundee Rd. sometime between Nov. 15 at 7:30 p.m. and Nov. 16 at 7:30 a.m. The rear driver's side window was shattered, and taken was a black leather case that contained a fiber optic test meter, valued at $30,000. A victim reported his silver 2001 Buick Sedan was damaged and burglarized sometime between Nov. 14 at 7:30 p.m. and Nov. 15 at 3 p.m. while it was parked in a lot in the 400 block of E. Osage Ln. Car Window Smash, Purse Stolen at YMCA Parking Lot In the parking lot of the YMCA, the driver side rear window of a 2013 silver Dodge Durango was broken out and a beige purse containing makeup was taken along with a pink bag that had three gift cards inside. The burglary occurred between 9:30 a.m. and 11:05 a.m. Friday, Oct. 12 in the parking lot of the YMCA at 1400 W. Northwest Highway. YMCA Burglary to Motor Vehicle Part 2. Lock Removed in Motor Vehicle Burglary Someone removed the locking mechanism and punched out the ignition of a Ford 5150 Truck parked in the lot of Galaxy Hand Car Wash at 2232 N. Rand Road, sometime between 8:30 a.m. and 7:30 p.m. Sunday, Oct. 7. When the victim returned to the truck, the front driver’s side door was standing wide open and a gym bag full of $500 worth of tools was gone. The cost of the damage to the truck is unknown. Aggravated DUI Jose A. Munoy-Ruiz, 39, of Palatine was headed westbound on Hicks Road when he was stopped around 9:42 p.m. Sunday, Sept. 30, and charged with aggravated DUI, driving without a valid driver’s license, uninsured motor vehicle, improper lane usage and improper lighting. DUI Floyd F. Ormonde, 41, or Palatine was charged with DUI, DUI with blood-alcohol content above .08, improper lane usage and speeding. Ormonde was stopped around 10 p.m. Friday, Sept. 28 while driving west on Palatine Road, near Greeley. DUI Elmer A. Laptop and Designer Bag Stolen from Car Parked in a residential driveway at the 2200 N. block of Old Hicks Road, a 2011 Toyota sedan was burglarized on Thursday, Sept. 13. The victim reported sometime between 8 p.m. and 9 p.m. an unknown offender entered the vehicle and took a MacBook Pro laptop, valued at $3,000 and a Reed Krakoff purse, valued at $1,100. Both items were left in the backseat, hidden underneath a diaper bag. Another Catalytic Converter Stolen Parked on the first floor of the Village Parking Garage at 251 W. Theft and Fraud Report; Wallet Stolen from Shopping Cart A woman’s wallet was stolen from her purse, which was placed in the front basket of her shopping cart. The theft occurred between noon and 1 p.m. on Friday, Sept. 7 at the Jewel-Osco located at 423 E. Dundee Road. The victim realized her brown wallet containing various credit cards, an Illinois Driver’s License, $25 cash, a checkbook, a social security card and a personal health insurance card was gone while in the check out line of the grocery store. When the woman called to report the credit cards stolen, one credit card company informed her $837.00 in charges had already been racked up at a Target store. Gateway parking garage: Parts of two exhaust systems stolen from vehicles The catalytic converter, part of the exhaust system that is located underneath the vehicle was sawed off of two vehicles parked at the Gateway Center parking garage at 251 W. Colfax. According to police one owner returned to their white Toyota SUV parked in the garage, started it up and noticed a loud noise coming from the rear of the vehicle. The owner drove to a repair shop where it was determined the catalytic converter had been sawed off, valued at $1200. The theft occurred sometime between Aug. 31 and Sept. 1. Failed Burglary Attempt The window of a blue Chevy SUV was broken out sometime before 7 a.m. on Aug. 25 at the 1200 block of Winslowe Drive. Inside the locked vehicle was a large flat screen TV covered by a towel in the back seat. In an attempted burglary, someone broke out a window of the SUV but unable to get the large flat screen out of the vehicle, the TV was left behind and nothing was taken from the vehicle.
