Two Lemont siblings remain held on $2 million bail each after they were accused of using a fake gun to hold up multiple immigrant women on Chicago's South and Southwest sides. Jaclyn Madera, 28, and Steven Madera, 36, each face six counts of armed robbery for incidents reported in the past two weeks. Jaclyn Madera, 28, acted as the getaway driver as her brother, Steven Madera, 36, jumped out and stole gold necklaces from his victims at gunpoint. Two of her children were in the vehicle at the time. The disappearance of St. Charles blues musician John Spira in 2007 remains a mystery. His sister, Stephanie McNeil has waited more than four and a half years for the DuPage County Sheriff’s Department to figure out what happened to her missing …

Patch Flash: Armed Robbers Tie Up Senior Couple in Glenview

Armed burglars tied up a couple in their 70s at a condominium complex in Glenview, Monday night, and proceeded to rob them of $60,000 in jewelry. According to police, the men posed as delivery men to enter the unit. No more free RTA rides for seniors due to budget cuts. Beginning Sept. 1, the Regional Transit Authority's "Seniors Ride Free" program will expire for all senior citizens except those defined as "low-income" using standards adopted from Illinois Department on Aging "Circuit Breaker" program. All other seniors will pay a discounted, half-price, fare. The RTA has filed a $100 million lawsuit against Channahon and Kankakee, alleging the communities have benefited from a sales tax loophole to the detriment of the RTA and other …

Man Arrested Trying to Rob Palatine Walgreens

A Lake Barrington man attempted to use a knife to rob a Walgreen in Palatine.

A Lake Barrington man who accosted a Walgreens clerk with a knife and demanded money faces several criminal charges. Justin Poly, 22, went behind the front counter of Walgreens, 12 N. Northwest Highway, threatened a store clerk with a knife and demanded money, police said. The incident occurred at 6:52 p.m. Saturday, May 14. Police said the clerk attempted to call 911 and  was pushed and shoved by Poly who prevented her from calling the police. At that point, a customer approached the front counter. Police said that Poly approached the customer with the knife, threatened him, and shoved the customer as well.
