Palatine Approves New Animal Shelter, Adoption Center

The Palatine Village Council approved the 2,200 square foot new facility to be located in an old farmhouse at 313 N. Quentin Road. The founder, Barb Weber, wants to help curb the growing population of stray animals in the village.

Barb’s Precious Rescue and Adoption Center, to be located at 313 N. Quentin Road, was approved by the Palatine Village Council Monday. Barb Weber of Palatine, a 25-year health care professional, plans to open the facility in a farmhouse located north of Palatine Road on the east side of the street, south of Colfax. The property closing will occur at the end of May, and Weber said she expects to be up and running by the end of this year after renovations on the property are completed.  Weber said the house is a perfect location for what she is trying to accomplish, which includes socializing homeless animals prior to adoption, while addressing what she says is a growing problem relating to stray animals in the village. “You need time to …
