Dear Today Show Family, I’m a Today Show junkie. As soon as I wake up in the morning, I tune in and within minutes I know the weather forecast, how to make a refreshing Gazpacho and that, unfortunately, ‘80s fashions are back in style. I trust Matt, Natalie, Al and Savannah to give me infotainment that has been thoroughly researched and interview experts who actually know the best food excursions in Puerto Vallarta or if gum really does take seven years to digest (no). At the very least, I expect them to know more than I do. However, I am sad to say that this morning my trust in you was irrevocably destroyed. Local groups duel for gigs in Palatine's Battle of the Bands.
With screaming guitars and pounding drums as their weapons, four suburban bands fought it out Monday night at the annual Battle of the Bands in Fred P. Hall Amphitheatre in Palatine. On the line for the winning bands were appearances at the Village of Palatine Streetfest, the Palatine Jaycees Hometown Fest, a birth in the Regional Competition of the Illinois Parks Recreation Association Battle of the Bands and an eventual gig at the Illinois State Fair later this summer in Springfield. A small crowd of high school age followers hung out near the stage as the bands performed, cheering and dancing as their favorites rocked on.
