Alicia and Willie Henke, of Palatine

Services have been scheduled for Alicia and Willie Henke.

Memorial visitation for Alicia Henke, 71, and Willie H. Henke, 70, of Palatine for 36 years, will be held on Sunday, April 28, 2013, from 2 p.m. until the time of the memorial service at 4 p.m. at the Ahlgrim Family Funeral Home, 201 N. Northwest Hwy., Palatine, IL 60067.  The Reverend Warren Schilf will officiate.  Interment was private. Alicia was born October 26, 1941 in Poland and Willie was born August 24, 1942 in Poland; and they both passed away unexpectedly Thursday, April 11, 2013. They were married on February 21, 1966 and became U.S. citizens. Both worked at Northwest Community Hospital in Arlington Heights, Alicia for 20 years in Food Service and Willie for 35 years as an Engineer, until they retired. They enjoyed gardening, …

Services for Arnold "Russ" M. Rusten

Services for Arnold "Russ" M. Rusten have been scheduled.

Arnold “Russ” M. Rusten of Arlington Heights was born on July 5, 1916 in Chicago to Andrew and Olga (nee Abrahamson) Rusten.  He died on April 15, 2013. Mr. Rusten was a graduate of the University of Wisconsin in Madison.  A Captain in the Army Air Corp during WWII, he earned his CPA and worked as a comptroller and hotel manager in Chicago.  He was an avid bicyclist and enjoyed traveling, animals and music. His greatest joy was spending time with his grandchildren. Suburban Woman Killed in Afghanistan

Anne Smedinghoff, 25, of River Forest was one of five Americans killed Saturday during a car bomb blast, according to The Chicago Tribune.

River Forest resident Anne Smedinghoff, 25, was one of five Americans killed Saturday during a car bombing in Afghanistan, according to the U.S. State Department.  Secretary of State John Kerry released the following statement about the attack:  "Our American officials and their Afghan colleagues were on their way to donate books to students in a school in Qalat, the province's capital, when they were struck by this despicable attack. "Just last week in Kabul, I met our fallen officer when she was selected to support me during my visit to Afghanistan. The life of Richard Tierney, a family man and U.S. Army veteran, will be honored and remembered Thursday and Friday.

Richard was born on June 6, 1936 in Danbury, CT the son of the late James and Veronica (nee Zurinskas) Tierney and passed away on Monday, April 1st at Midwest Palliative and Hospice Care Center in Arlington Heights. Genevieve A. Thomas (Soltys), 86, of Palatine. Born July 2, 1926, she passed away March 23, 2013.  Beloved wife for 55 years of the late Arthur J. Thomas;  loving mother of Eileen Dettmann, Geraldine (Eugene) Kramer, Sharon (Gary) McGraw and Janice (Bill) Morton; proud grandmother of Heather, Lisa, Shan, Matthew and Billy and great grandmother of Nina; dear sister of Ted Soltys, Helen Norris, Sophie Delster and the late Bernice Szydlowski and Stephanie Jarosh; fond aunt to many nieces and nephews.
