Palatine Fire Department Station 81 was built in 1980 as part of the Palatine Rural Fire Protection District. The station became part of the village's fire department in 2001. A new station is planned at 1215 N. Quentin Road in 2011, at which time the current station will be closed. Station 81 has a quint engine and an ambulance. The station also houses the villages dive and boat units to be used in water rescues.
