Deer Grove Forest Preserve in Palatine offers cross-country skiing and a sled hill near the main Deer Grove parking lots off Quentin Road.

The Palatine Park District also offers sledding at Dutch Schultz Recreation Area and Riemer Reservoir, and ice skating at Community Park.
