When Will We See Warmer Temps?

Temperatures in the first four days of June in Chicago were 4.9 degrees below normal temperatures.

For many local residents that crave scorching-hot temperatures once summer rolls around, June has provided a disappointing start.

Temperatures in the first four days of June in Chicago were 4.9 degrees below normal temperatures, putting the start of this June among the coldest 26 percent of all similar periods dating back to 1871, according to Chicago meteorologist Tom Skilling's Chicago Weather Center blog.
Meanwhile, water temperatures along the shoreline of Lake Michigan have been recorded as five degrees cooler than a year ago, according to Skilling's blog.

Today in Palatine, the temperature is expected to reach a high of 73 degrees with scattered showers also in the forecast.

Looking ahead, temperatures should reach a high of 66 degrees on Thursday and 65 on Friday — with rain in the forecast both days — before a mostly sunny day is forecasted for Saturday with temps expected to reach 70 degrees, according to the National Weather Service. On Sunday, there is a high of 71 degrees and a chance of rain and thunderstorms in the forecast.

Things are expected to warm up as we head into the start of next week. On Monday, a high of 75 degrees is in the forecast and there is also a change of rain and thunderstorms, according to the NWS.

We are expected to see the warmest temps on Tuesday with a high of 78 degrees in the forecast and a slight change of showers.
