WINGS Activities For Women's History Month

WINGS Partners with Rep. Fred Crespo and the Streamwood Woman's Club on a poster contest for Women's History Month.

March is Women's History Month.WINGS (Women in Need Growing Stonger) exists to help women move from abuse and homelessness to a new life filled with peace and prosperity, a press release states.

During this month, WINGS celebrates the success of all of the women who courageously overcame very difficult situations. The public's support of WINGS' events and resale stores make it possible for WINGS to help them. Over the last 26 years, thousands of women have come to WINGS. Because of the support of the public, they have a a better life.

WINGS will present its 5th annual Resale Fashion Show on Sunday, March 4 from 10:30 a.m. to 2 p.m. at The Meadows Club, 2950 West Golf Rd. in Rolling Meadows.

Tickets for the fundraiser are $45. The fashion show will inclue lunch, raffles and a silent auction.

WINGS also will be collecting housewares, accessories, furniture and clothes for sale at its resale shops. The . WINGS needs new and gently used donations to increase its sales. Donation Drives:

Rep. Fred Crespo, a member of WINGS Leadership Board, is accepting submissions for the 2012 Women's History Month Poster Contest.

"Women have played an integral role in shaping the foundation of this country's moral fiber and we should honor all they have done," Crespo said. "This poster contest gives all ages the opportunity to learn about women's history and gain a better appreciation for their accomplishments."

The contest is open to all ages and genders. It should be created around this year's theme, "Women's Education - Women's Empowerment," and what it means to them. Posters must be submitted to Rep. Crespo's Constituent Service at 1014 E. Schaumburg Rd. in Streamwood by Monday, March 19. Members from WINGS and Rep. Crespo's Women's Advisory Committee will select five posters to be put on display in the state capitol.
