Let Callie Keep You Company

Shy and sweet 6-year-old Calico seeks quiet companionship.

Hi, Everybody! I’m Callie, and for the last six years of my life, I had a quiet, comfortable home.

But in an often-told story in animal shelters, my elderly owner, on a fixed income and ill, could no longer afford to care for me. No one in the family wanted another cat, so I was sent to an open-admission shelter.

I was so scared at the shelter, cowering in the back of the cage, not wanting to look at anyone. But when Young at Heart Pet Rescue came in, their volunteers were oh-so-gentle with me, and though I would not look at them, I still purred ever so lightly as they stroked my fur. They saw the sweet, scared girl I was, and they rescued me right then from a not-so-happy fate.

The was a nice change from the shelter, as it was quieter and less hectic, but I had never lived with other kitties before, so soon I found myself as the only kitty in a foster home. And boy, do I love my foster home! I love being able to stretch my legs, enjoy the sunshine, and sit on laps. And best of all, I’m the only kitty, so I’m not scared anymore.

I’m a quiet girl, so I won’t keep you up at night squawking about my day, and if you’re watching TV, I’ll simply curl up on the couch with you. I am declawed on my front paws, so your lap is safe from kneading paws (and your furniture is safe from me, too!).

I’m spayed, up to date on my vaccinations, and microchipped, and my blood test results say I’m doing just fine. I’m so ready for a new home – a quiet one where I can be an adult’s favorite companion. Fill out an adoption application today! Soon we can be each other’s best buddies.
