The Palatine Police & Fire Benevolent Association and the Palatine Jaycees will host a chili cook off for March.

The Palatine Police & Fire Benevolent Association and the Palatine Jaycees will host the third annual chili cook off between the police and fire departments on Sunday, March 13.

The even will be at Durty Nellie's, 180 N. Smith St., from 1 p.m. to 4 p.m.

"Each adult ticket is a $5 donation at the door which includes all-you-can-eat chili, a cash bar, shirt sales, 50/50 raffle and a live band," Palatine Jaycee Kristen Bureta stated in a press release. "You need not be 21 years old to participate. This event is open to anyone that wants to help a worthy cause."

All proceeds from the event will go to the Palatine Police and Fire Benevolent Association. The association is a nonprofit corporation that in the event of a tragedy or hardship assists members of the community through charitable donations, stated police Sgt. Mike Vargas.

Assisting other associations is one way the Jaycees give back to the community. The Palatine Jaycees conduct numerous programs to serve the community and accumulate funds for operation and for community donations. These include projects such as the Fourth of July Festival, Christmas tree sales, a sand sale and other events and projects.
