Palatine Business and Non-Profit Need Your Vote to Win $10K
Lorrene Conino, who owns Salon Lorrene, also is vice president of Palatine-based charity, C.A.T.I.F. Due to charitable work by the non-profit, up to $10,000 could be awarded back to the organization - with the public's help.
Palatine Salon Lorrene Owner Lorrene Conino, in partnership with non-profit C.A.T.I.F. is in the running to win the Wella Hairdressers at Heart Charity Challenge. The yearly contest is sponsored by Wella Hair Care, which awards cash prizes to individuals within the salon and spa industry for their volunteer work – and to help further their charitable causes.
Conino is no stranger to giving back. In addition to running her salon for more than 15 years on Palatine’s west end, she has been vice president of C.A.T.I.F. since its beginnings in 2007. To date, the Palatine-based non-profit has raised more than $80,000 in funds, which have been donated to a variety of non-profits in the Chicagoland area who serve women and children experiencing crisis.
Most recently, C.A.T.I.F. donated $15,000 in seed money for a dedicated fund at the Jesse Brown VA Medical Center in Chicago. Monies channeled into this fund will be earmarked for female veterans who are re-assimilating, after returning back home from serving our country, Conino said.

Homelessness and scarce resources for everyday needs are becoming more and more prevalent within the female veteran population.
“If we are fortunate to win the charity challenge this year, 100-percent of the funds will be given to the new Jesse Brown VA Medical Center fund for female veterans, to continue to assist them with their needs,” Conino said.

Conino and C.A.T.I.F. board members Dina Wasmund and Lori Drelicharz - Hunt attended an appreciation ceremony at the Jesse Brown VA medical center in Chicago on Monday, April 14 where they were publicly thanked for their efforts on behalf of women veterans.

Votes can be cast each day through May 15. Winners will be announced in June.
